VPS-18::GFP was ubiquitously expressed in early embryo and appeared cytoplasmic. In early larvae, VPS-18::GFP was mainly seen in hypodermal cells, seam cells and some body-wall muscle cells. In adult hermaphrodite, VPS-18::GFP was detected in coelomocytes. VPS-18::GFP signal was also present in gonadal sheath cells. In addition, VPS-18::GFP was expressed in intestine and spermatheca.
vps-45::EGFP is ubiquitously expressed in all major tissues, such as neuron, muscle, hypodermis and intestine. vps-45::EGFP is also expressed in coelomocytes.
the ESCRT-II components -VPS-22, VPS-25 and VPS-36- are enriched in pharyngeal, vulval, and body wall muscles (BWM) and are globally detected in punctate structures. In BWM cells, ESCRT-II puncta are regularly aligned in parallel lines along the main axis of the cells. In vulval muscles, the ESCRT-II puncta are both cortical and cytoplasmic, but VPS-22::GFP is weaker and VPS-25::GFP is more diffuse. In pharyngeal muscles, ESCRT-II puncta localize at the sites of attachment of actin cables, similarly to the actin attachment protein Paxilin/PXL-1.

Widespread VPS-52 expression was detected in cytoplasmic puncta of many somatic tissues from early embryos on. In particular, VPS-52 is expressed in temporal continuity at all larval stages in the vulval and seam cells.
