Inhibition of
hsp-3 expression by RNAi leads to a strong increase in
hsp-4::GFP expression in comparison to control RNAi treatment, reflecting an upregulation of the
hsp-4 gene. Quantitative RT-PCR revealed an 2-fold decrease in endogenous
hsp-3 mRNA (0.48-fold control RNAi treatment, range +0.13, -0.11) accompanied by a 6-fold increase in endogenous
hsp-4 mRNA. Introduction of a
hsp-3 deletion allele into the
hsp-4::GFP reporter integrated background leads to strong GFP induction as well.
