At L2 stage, the predominant band in unstressed animals is the 10 kDa form of COF-2. Other forms of this protein are barely detectable in unstressed L2 animals. Unlike the mRNA profile, COF-2 protein levels significantly increased in response to heat shock. In protein from stressed animals, all four bands were easily detected and were significantly stronger than in unstressed animals.
