PatternThis pattern is first expressed as a few nuclei in 3-fold embryos. A few nuclei also stain in young larvae. In adults expression is evident posteriorly to the vulva. This expression is reproducible but seems to be on the threshhold of observability as sometimes expression is not seen (due to less efficient staining?) It appears to stain the A and B epithelial cells which connect the uterus to the hypodermal syncytium, ie in the hypodermal ridge posterior to the vulva. We have seen one example (due to the low threshhold?) where the posterior third of the anterior component of the A and B epithelial cells, as well as the posterior component stain. This does seem to follow with the possibility of some concentration gradient evident in the gene product produced. There is occasionally a second component. This is seen in the larval stages and is anterior, and more frequently posterior, intestinal nuclei. In adults some diffuse intestinal staining is also seen.
