Subcellular_localizationUnder reproductive conditions, DAF-16 is found in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus, whereas upon activation by the IGF-1 or the TGF- pathways the protein is accumulated in the nucleus. In L3 larvae grown on cholesterol, DAF-16::GFP showed diffuse fluorescence throughout many cells, as reported previously. In contrast, in the second generation of worms grown on lophenol, DAF-16::GFP is localised in nuclei of neurons of the pharynx, ventral cord, and tail. Lophenol had a very weak effect on the accumulation of DAF-16 in the nuclei of other cells.
