PatternVisible expression of the pst-1 reporter is first seen at around the 2-fold stage. Expression of the pst-1 reporter is detected in the lateral blast cells that will later either fuse to the hypodermal syncytium or give rise to seam cells, a group of specialized hypodermal cells. Expression continues to be detected throughout life in the seam cells and in pharyngeal gland cells. In addition, weaker expression is seen in a number of unidentified cells in the head, possibly in amphid support cells and the duct and/or pore cell, as well as, possibly, in the intestine.
