PatternGFP expression was greatest in embryos, and it decreased throughout the larval stages into adults, suggesting that the transcription of this gene was developmentally regulated. The earliest detectable GFP signal was observed in the intestinal cells of embryos, after the development of the intestinal cell lineage (E cells). Constitutive bcmo-1 transcription was observed in all embryonic E cells. The constitutive GFP expression decreased in post-embryonic stages of development. It was greatest in the intestines of L1 larvae, and the lowest level of GFP expression was observed in the L4 and adult nematodes.
