cst-2 encodes a protein kinase that is the C. elegans ortholog of the MST (mammalian Ste20-like) kinases and Drosophila Hippo; CST-2 appears to play a role in the responses to oxidative stress and determination of adult lifespan; in regulating stress response and lifespan, CST-2 functions upstream of the DAF-16/FOXO transcription factor; CST-2 physically interacts with RSF-1, the C. elegans homolog of the Ras-association domain family protein 1.
Predicted to enable protein serine/threonine kinase activity. Predicted to be involved in intracellular signal transduction and regulation of MAPK cascade. Predicted to be located in cytoplasm. Expressed in AQR and PQR. Is an ortholog of human STK3 (serine/threonine kinase 3).
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
