mir-43 encodes a microRNA, a small non-protein coding RNA and is conserved in C. briggsae; mir-43 is part of the mir-42-mir-44 cluster of miRNAs; mir-43 is expressed predominantly in the embryo; many of the known microRNAs are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of genes; the precise function of mir-43 is not known.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
