mir-62 encodes a microRNA, a small non-protein coding RNA and is conserved in C. briggsae; mir-62 belongs to the mir-50 family of miRNAs based on RNA sequence; mir-62 is expressed constitutively throughout development in normal worms and in glp-4(bn2) adults; many of the known microRNAs are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of genes; the precise function of mir-62 is not known.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
