set-26 encodes a large (1,677-residue) protein with a low-complexity N-terminal region, followed by a PHD-zinc finger and a SET domain; SET-26 has no non-nematode orthologs, but has 96% identity (1616/1679 residues) to its paralog SET-9; unlike its paralog SET-9, SET-26 has no obvious function in RNAi assays.
Enables histone H3K9 methyltransferase activity. Predicted to be involved in chromatin remodeling and methylation. Predicted to be located in nucleus. Expressed in several structures, including germ cell; hypodermis; intestine; muscle cell; and somatic cell.
Map position created from combination of previous interpolated map position (based on known location of sequence) and allele information. Therefore this is not a genetic map position based on recombination frequencies or genetic experiments. This was done on advice of the CGC.
