WBPicture0000003839DescriptionThis multicomponent pattern expresses from late embryogenesis through to adulthood. Staining is first observed in the pharynx of 1.5-fold embryos. In 3-fold embryos, expression is seen in the pharyngo-intestinal valve and in the intestino-rectal valve, in addition to the pharyngeal staining. In adults, expression in the excretory cell is also apparent, with the anterior canals staining and about 1/4 of the posterior canals staining. The pharyngeal staining is strong in larvae but generally weaker in adults. The pharyngo-intestinal valve shows expression throughout the animals life. Around mid-larval stage the intestino-rectal valve expression becomes fainter until it is rarely seen in adults.
