WBPicture0000007992DescriptionFigure 2. Confocal images of the somatic gonad from L2 wild-type hermaphrodites fixed and stained with anti-GFP antibody. Animals were staged by assessing the size of the gonad and positions of nuclei by counterstaining with DAPI to visualize all nuclei. Both images are a ventral view; anterior is to the left. The white arrow points to Z1.ppp and the outlined arrow to Z4.aaa. The other staining cells are the sister cells of Z1.ppp and Z4.aaa (called Z1.ppa and Z4.aap, respectively). The image in A is of an early L2 hermaphrodite, at a time when Z1.ppp and Z4.aaa are uncommitted. The image in B is of a later L2 hermaphrodite, near the time of commitment.
