WBPicture0000008201DescriptionFluorescent profiles of transgenic nematodes expressing NHX-2::GFP translational fusion protein. A genomic fragment containing the promoter and entire open reading frame of nhx-2 gene was fused in-frame to GFP. The subcellular location of the fusion protein was determined by either conventional or confocal fluorescent microscopy. Fluorescent images are shown next to the corresponding differential interference contrast photomicrographs. C and D, NHX-2::GFP is targeted to the luminal surface of intestinal cell membranes, as demonstrated by confocal microscopy. The granular staining in the intestine is comprised of auto-fluorescent granules; using a system where color resolution is available, these granules will fluoresce yellow.
