WBPicture0000011559DescriptionFigure 2. Localization of mec-7antigen in wild-type and mutant L3 and L4 larvae. Except for E, which is a composite of only a few optical sections, the figures are composite confocal images taken through the animals. Anterior is to the left. Bar in A (50 um) applies to all panels except F (bar also 50 um). (A) Wild type. The six touch receptor neurons are indicated. (B) mec-7 (e1506). No staining is seen. (C) mec-7(u275). The processes stain mildly in mutants of this strain. (D) mec-7(n434). The processes are greatly shortened. (E) mec-7(u278). AVM has anteriorly- and posteriorly-directed processes (not seen in wild-type animals), ALMR has an unusually long posterior process. (F) mec-7(u170). The posterior process of ALMR is unusually long. (G) Wild-type grown in 1 mM colchicine. The ALM processes are shorter. (H) mec-7(u278) grown in 1 mM colchicine. The extra processes are not seen (compare with E).
