WBPicture0000013350DescriptionFig. 3. GFP expression from the transcriptional lin-39::GFP in smg-1(e1228) mutant background. Pictures are in pairs; the left panel shows the Nomarski optics image and the right panel shows the fluorescence image. (A and B) Expression in the P cells (P-P8) in embryo (anterior is up). (C and D) Expression in P cells in the mid-body region during the early L1 stage. (E and F) Expression in the VPCs of an early L2 animal. (G and H) increased GFP expression in P6.p after vulval induction in early L3 animal (29 h post-hatching). GFP expression is also observed in the sex myoblast (SM) located above P6.p. (I-J and K-L). Upregulation is maintained in P6.p descendants after the first and second division of the induced VPCs during the mid and late L3 stage. Expression in the SM lineage is seen above the vulval cells and out of the plane of focus. (M and N) GFP expression is maintained in the 22 vulval cells during the L4 stage. de novo GFP expression is observed in the VulA cells. (O and P) GFP expression in the SM progeny. (Q and R) Arrows point to ventral cord neurons expressing GFP. Expression is also observed in the developing vulva and the SM descendants. In C - R, anterior is to the left and dorsal to the top.
