| Pattern | The osm-8 promoter is only expressed at detectable levels in the hypodermis. GFP expression was observed in the hypodermal syncitium and was excluded from the hypodermal seam cells. While the osm-8 promoter was active in larval stages up to and including the L4, expression in adults was strongly attenuated, suggesting that osm-8 mRNA expression might be developmentally regulated. Indeed, quantitative RT-PCR analysis of osm-8 mRNA showed weakly oscillating expression levels that were similar to the expression levels in another secreted protein, the collagen gene dpy-7. | |||
