TypeReporter_gene
PatternThe reporter genes are detectable in the adult in the body wall muscle cells, in the pharyngeal muscle cells, in the sex-specific muscle cells (e.g., vulval muscles in hermaphrodites and diagonal muscles of the male tail) and in the anal muscles. Expression is also found in the embryos at the comma to two-fold stage, when muscle lattices are being assembled. beta-galactosidase staining from the lacZ fusion is detected in a small number of cells slightly earlier in development but the identity of these cells has not yet been determined. Expression is not seen in the gonads.
