PatternIn situ hybridization shows that klp-15 and/or klp-16 mRNAs are concentrated in the germline at all stages, from L1 to adult. In L3, L4, and very young adults, transcripts accumulate in a specific region of the gonad, dorsal, and preturn, corresponding to the prophase of meiosis I, after the synaptonemal complex has been assembled, during pachytene. In older adults, the transcripts spread to the ventral gonad and are also present in large amounts in very early embryos.
