Interaction_summary"Representative transcript genes from this dataset, along with selected sulfur metabolism related genes, were analyzed by qRT-PCR of total RNA from three independent cultures grown in each Se concentration (Table 4, Fig. S3-S5)... The microarray analysis indicated that collagen/cuticle and molting cycle/development-related transcripts were down-regulated by toxic Se. qRT-PCR confirmed this down regulation for 6 genes (Table 4, Fig. S5A-S5D). Most interestingly, F47C12.7 transcript levels, for a gene of unknown function, were downregulated by 0 mM Se 27 to 70-fold relative to 0.05-0.4 mM Se (Fig. S5E, Table 4) as shown by microarray and by qRT-PCR. Collectively, qRT-PCR analyses validated the responses in C. elegans due to toxic Se and low Se that were observed by microarray analysis."
