WBPicture0000011549DescriptionFigure 4. Tissue and cellular expression of the alpha-2 tubulin. A fusion gene containing alpha-2 tubulin and LacZ was used to study the cellular expression of the alpha-2 tubulin gene during C. elegans development. Bar represents 20 microns. (a) and (b). Staining of the 6 pharyngeal muscle cells in the adult hermaphrodite, the intensity of staining is low in L1 larvae, but as shown here in late larval and adult stages, these muscle cells stain very intensely. (c) Staining of the intestinal nuclei in the early L1 larva; the posterior nuclei show higher intensity of staining than the nuclei of the anterior intestinal cells. The staining of the intestinal cells decreases in subsequent larval (L2 to L4), and adult stages. (d) DAPI staining of the larva shown in (c). (e) staining of the intestinal cells in the late embryogenesis. (f) A set of 6 motorneurons are stained in the ventral nerve cord in the early larval stages.
