WBPicture0000013072DescriptionFig. 6. Both lin-12(2in_490) and glp-1(2in_493) transgenes are expressed in neurons at the adult stage. (A) lin-12(2in_490) expression in adulthood. Almost no expression is seen in the head (only a single unidentified cell shows GFP fluorescence-the arrow). Few ventral cord neurons express the lin-12(2in_490) transgene in the middle and posterior body parts in these specimens. Neurons in the tail region also fail to express lin-12(2in_490). (B) glp-1(2in_493) is abundantly expressed in the adult C. elegans nervous system. GFP fluorescence is evident in numerous head neurons. The bracket indicates the area of head neuronal ring. Several cells in this structure are GFP-positive. The majority of neurons belonging to the ventral nerve cord (arrows) express glp-1(2in_493) all along the anteroposterior body axis. The arrowhead shows the adult vulval structure. Some neurons posterior to the rectum are also positive for glp-1(2in_493). In each panel, DIC pictures (up) and their corresponding fluorescence images (bottom) are associated. (C) An enlarged image showing glp-1(2in_493)-positive neurons in the head. The bracket indicates the position of the neuronal ring around the posterior pharyngeal bulb. Some hypodermal cells are also glowing (background expression of pPD107.94).
